Beautiful female Ruby-throated hummers were frequent visitors at our Junction Creek campsite.
But our most unusual visitor was a Rufous Hummingbird, the first we've ever seen.  He was a beautiful cinnamon color with a brilliant orange throat - truly spectacular - but a mean little cuss!
The Black-chinned Hummingbird has a brilliant violet-purple throat band that glistens in the sun.
Molas Lake as seen from the Million Dollar Highway between Durango and Silverton.
One of our favorite Colorado activities is to travel the 4-wheel-drive high mountain passes throughout the state.  The Silverton - Lake Como Trail offers spectacular, rugged scenery and numerous old mining sites.
A typical scene from the Colorado back country.
I can assure you that the air is THIN up here!
