I now know what John Denver meant in his song, "Wild Montana Skies".
While in Helena, we toured St. Helena Cathedral, completed in 1924 and largely funded by mining magnate Thomas Cruse.
It is so hard to believe that this cathedral is located in a town of only 28,000 people!
Stained glass windows above the altar.
Wonderful reliefs of the 12 Stations of the Cross are located around the church.
There are 59 stained glass windows that depict the Bible from Genesis through the resurrection of Christ.
An interesting note:  We have seen these displayed all across Montana.  They are located in yards, at highway crossings and in church yards.  The world would certainly be a better place if we saw these every day and LIVED by them every day.  Gotta love the Montana spirit.
