At the top of Mosquito Pass, we found a monument to Father Dyer.  He was a Methodist minister who, wearing 10 foot Norway snowshoes, carried mail and gold over the pass from Leadville to Fairplay.
The view from the top of Mosquito Pass.  No, there were no mosquitos.  It was too cold and windy!
We found some snow for Harley to play in but, from the look on his face, it wasn't that much fun!

Once we reached Fairplay, we drove south a bit on US 285 and returned to Leadville via Weston Pass Road.  It was an easier trek and very beautiful.
