Ann's Journal
Leaving Zion National Park, we followed UT Highway 9 to US 89 to UT 12. UT 12 is a beautiful drive, designated as an "All American Road", making it a destination unto itself.

We had tried to make reservations at a private RV park just outside the entrance to Bryce Canyon but were only successful in booking one night. Happily, we found Red Canyon Campground, a wonderful forest service campground in the Dixie National Forest. It was first-come first-serve and there were sights available so we settled in for three nights and cancelled our reservations at the private park. There were no hookups but Bubba is well-equipped for "boondocking". In fact, none of the forest service campgrounds in which we’ve stayed in California or Utah had hookups. We have to run our generator for an hour or so each day to recharge our house batteries which provide enough electricity to watch TV, run the water pump and central heat, operate the lights, and other necessities of life. The only thing we can’t operate, while on battery power, is the microwave. Life could be worse!

We spent two days in Bryce Canyon taking in the wonder of the park. We enjoyed a hike to the bottom of the canyon, via Queen’s Garden Trail and the Navajo Trail. While the park is beautiful from the rim of the canyon, you truly do have to go to the bottom to appreciate the grandeur and splendor of it.

Next, we visit Kodachrome Basin.

Until next time, happy trails to you . . . til we meet again!
